Liquids in Airline Carry-On Luggage
3-1-1 is the simple rule developed by the TSA to help you remember how to pack liquids in your carry-on bag. Here's how it works:
Liquids must go inside bottles no bigger than 3 ounces.
Bottles go inside zip-top bag no bigger than 1 quart size.
Each passenger is allowed 1 bag.
Put bottles containing more than 3 ounces liquid in your checked luggage.
Medications, baby formula and food, and breast milk are not subject to the 3 ounce carry-on limit and don't have to go in a zip-top bag. However, these items should be declared for inspection at the checkpoint.
